PWD Social Football club of Bamenda now has a new coach. The new manager of the Elite one Football club is David Pagou, a well-known tactician when it comes to local football in Cameroon. David Pagou replaces Augustine Choupo who was abducted and later released earlier this year by unknown gunmen.
Speaking to the press shortly after supervising his first training session at the Big Mankon field last Tuesday, Pagou said his goal is to build a solid team with the young players of the club. He intends to instill enthusiasm; strength and maturity into the team to enable him get the positive results he wants to see.
Coach Pagou adds that it may be difficult building a team which is predominantly made up of young players who are not really mature but he intends to go bid by bid and ensure that they have a good game each time they get into the field of play.
The President of PWD, Pascal Abunde speaking on his decision to hire Coach Pagou said “The choice of Coach David Pagou ties with the Philosophy of the Club. We have always thought that football is for the youths and he is a coach who is in progressive football.
“I think with the past experiences he has had playing in the African Nations Champions League as well as managing big names like Cosmos, Canon, Apejes, and Renaissance, he probably ticks all the boxes.”
Coach Pagou is noted for building strong compact teams which are always very difficult to beat. PWD would definitely expect him to bring that experience into the team. He also has very good qualifications on paper but he would have to translate those qualifications into the field of play and give the team the success rate it is hoping to get. This of course, would help in determining if his One year contract with the management of PWD will be extended or not.
